Syrian president highlights strategic ties with Russia, China ahead of Moscow visit

Syria’s transitional president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, is scheduled to visit Moscow on October 15, Syrian broadcaster Syria TV reports, citing its sources.

Meanwhile, in an interview with CBS News in Arabic, al-Sharaa said that Syria is developing relations with Russia and China based on strategic interests.

“Syria today maintains calm relations with Russia and China, grounded in strategic priorities,” he said.

“Our relations with Russia do not contradict our relations with the West or the United States,” al-Sharaa added, noting that the new authorities in Damascus have received positive signals from Moscow and Beijing.
