Syrian president holds talks with senior UN officials on aid coordination Photo
President Ahmad al-Sharaa met senior United Nations officials in Damascus on April 2 to discuss strengthening coordination on humanitarian efforts amid ongoing challenges facing Syria.
The meeting, held at the People’s Palace, brought together UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher and UNDP Administrator Alexander De Croo. Syria’s Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani also attended, Caliber.Az reports per Syrian media.
According to Syrian officials, discussions focused on the country’s humanitarian situation and ways to enhance cooperation between Syrian authorities and UN agencies to improve the effectiveness of aid operations.
The talks also addressed efforts to mitigate the impact of the current challenges facing the country, as Syria continues to grapple with the consequences of prolonged conflict, economic strain and displacement.
No further details of the discussions were immediately released.
