Syrian president meets Kurdish-led SDF officials
Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa held talks on April 16 with senior representatives of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, focusing on efforts to implement a previously agreed plan to integrate the group into state institutions.
The meeting included SDF commander Mazloum Abdi and senior political figure Ilham Ahmad, and was attended by Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani and presidential envoy Ziad al-Ayesh, who is overseeing implementation of the agreement, Caliber.Az reports per Syrian media.
According to Syrian officials, discussions centered on advancing the integration of SDF military and administrative structures into state institutions.
The talks follow a January 29 agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF that established a ceasefire and outlined a phased process for integration. The deal предусматриes the deployment of state security forces to key cities including Hasakah and Qamishli, as well as the transfer of civil institutions, border crossings, and other entry points to government control.
