Syrian president to pay official visit to Türkiye, UAE next week
On April 6, the Syrian Foreign Ministry announced in a statement that interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa is scheduled to make an official visit to Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates next week.
The visit, which is part of the new administration's efforts to strengthen regional relations and attract international support for the reconstruction phase, comes months after the overthrow of deposed President Bashar al-Assad's regime, and represents a new milestone in Damascus's path to reclaiming its regional role, the ministry said, Caliber.Az reports via Syrian media..
The visit is considered an extension of the intensive diplomatic efforts undertaken by the new Syrian administration, which have previously included visits to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Jordan, where Damascus discussed strengthening security and economic cooperation.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani revealed last February that President Ahmad al-Sharaa would soon visit the United Arab Emirates.
At the time, Al-Shaibani said in statements during his participation in the World Government Summit in Dubai that President Al-Shara intends to visit the UAE soon, without providing any further details about the date of the visit.
Let's note that Ahmed Al-Sharaa held a phone call with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan last January, during which they discussed ways to develop bilateral relations to serve mutual interests.
During the call, the two presidents stressed "the importance of ongoing coordination and intensified efforts to support the Syrian people and protect their territorial integrity, and their commitment to working together to achieve stability and development in the region.
