Syrian rebels enter Aleppo after intense fighting VIDEO
Syrian rebel groups, including Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, have entered the city of Aleppo after two days of fierce clashes, resulting in significant casualties among both fighters and civilians.
Sources close to the factions' military operations reported that their forces are advancing on several fronts in the southern, western, and northern parts of Aleppo. The fighters have reportedly taken control of the Rashidin neighbourhood and the Scientific Research Center at the western and southern entrances of the city, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The insurgent groups have also made significant strides in the surrounding countryside, seizing dozens of towns and villages. They are now focused on capturing the town of Saraqib in the northeastern Idlib countryside, following their capture of the village of Maarat al-Numan to the south. In addition, the factions have taken control of the town of Al-Eis in the southern Aleppo countryside, advancing toward the Abu al-Duhur military airport and cutting off the Khasirah route, which serves as the government forces’ primary supply line into Aleppo.
"Intense fighting is expected in the coming hours," the source said, noting the arrival of reinforcements from both sides. Government forces have reportedly sent additional military reinforcements to the Aleppo countryside via Khasirah in the southeastern region. Despite these reinforcements, the government forces have suffered significant losses, including the capture of dozens of tanks and armored vehicles, and numerous casualties, both dead and captured.
In response, a commander from the Syrian government forces, Abu Mahmoud Omar, stated that the Syrian army and allied forces have launched operations to recapture the areas lost in the past two days, particularly in the western and southern Aleppo countryside.
