Syrian security forces arrest two former military intelligence officers in Daraa
Syrian Internal Security forces, operating in al-Sanamayn in Daraa province, southern Syria, in coordination with the provincial Counterterrorism branch, have arrested two former military intelligence officers, the Interior Ministry announced.
According to the ministry, preliminary investigations revealed that one of the individuals had served as head of studies at the Military Intelligence detachment in Kafr Nasej, located in northern rural Daraa, while the other had led the same detachment until 2017 before being appointed head of the Military Intelligence section in al-Sanamayn, SANA reports.
The ministry stated that initial findings indicate the two men were involved in suppressing peaceful protests during the periods in which they held these posts.
“Both suspects have been referred to the Counterterrorism Administration to complete the necessary investigations and to take legal measures in accordance with the law,” the ministry added.

The arrests form part of ongoing efforts by Syrian authorities to hold former officials accountable for actions taken during periods of civil unrest in the country.
