Tajikistan lodges protest with Russia over mistreatment of its citizens
Tensions have arisen between Tajikistan and Russia as Tajik Foreign Ministry has formally protested against what it perceives as the mistreatment of its citizens within Russian territory.
The Russian Ambassador to the country, Semyon Grigoriev, was summoned by the ministry on April 29, where he was presented with a note of protest outlining concerns regarding the treatment of Tajik nationals in Russia, Caliber.Az reports citing the Tajik foreign ministry.
The ministry highlighted "mass cases of manifestation of emphasized negative attitude" towards Tajik citizens in Russia, as well as the "widespread violation" of their rights and freedoms. The ministry expressed deep concern over these incidents and emphasized that such actions were allegedly targeted exclusively at Tajik citizens, which it deemed incompatible with the spirit and traditions of Tajik-Russian relations.
