Tasnim: Iran opens fire on container ship after repeated warnings ignored

Semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim has reported that Iranian forces enforced “maritime law” against a container vessel that ignored repeated warnings, the agency said in a post on X.

“Iranian armed forces opened fire on a container ship after it ignored repeated warnings, causing significant damage to the vessel, according to a report by the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO),” the statement said, as cited by Tasnim.

The agency published its post alongside an earlier update from UKMTO, which said it had received a report of an incident involving a container ship approximately 15 nautical miles (28 km) northeast of Oman.
