The Times: Germany seeks channels of communication with Russia

Germany has intensified efforts to restore channels of communication with Russia amid discussions over possible European Union involvement in talks aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine, The Times reports, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, various options for possible mediation in contacts with Moscow are being discussed in Berlin.

One source told The Times that there had been a shift in sentiment in Germany regarding talks with Russia, with several poorly coordinated initiatives to open channels of communication already underway.

The newspaper noted that attempts to establish contacts have so far failed to produce any significant results.
