Three dead as bus plows into stop near university in Stockholm
Three people have been killed and another three injured after a bus collided with a bus stop in central Stockholm, according to foreign media reports, citing Swedish police.
The crash occurred at 15:23 local time (14:23 GMT) on November 14 on Valhallavägen street, near the Royal Institute of Technology university. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
The bus driver has been arrested and now faces charges of causing death and bodily harm. Police emphasised that there is “currently no indication that the incident was intentional.”
Authorities are working to identify the victims, and it is not yet known whether there were passengers on the bus at the time of the crash.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson expressed his condolences on X, saying: “People who might have been on their way home to family, friends, or a quiet evening at home. We do not yet know the cause, but right now my thoughts are primarily with those affected and their loved ones.”
