Three dead, two missing after sewer accident in Uzbekistan

Five construction workers fell into a sewer collector during building operations in the village of Bogidasht, Uzbekistan, on 4 September.

The workers were connecting pipes to a central collector approximately eight metres deep when, due to safety violations and the unauthorised opening of the collector’s cover, they were swept away by a surge of wastewater, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

Rescue teams have recovered the bodies of three victims, while the search for the remaining two workers is ongoing. Authorities have opened a criminal investigation into the incident.
