Three minors detained after Grenade explosions in central Oslo

24 September 2025 13:34

Norwegian police have arrested three minors in connection with a series of explosions that occurred in the Bislett district of central Oslo in the evening of September 23.

The incidents took place on Pilestredet and Parkveien, where grenades were reportedly hurled from a moving vehicle. One device detonated on the street, while another was later safely neutralized by police bomb technicians. No injuries were reported in the attacks, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

Incident commander Brian Skotnes confirmed that the explosions are believed to be linked to a criminal dispute and stated that police have “a certain overview of the environments involved,” though efforts are ongoing to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the circumstances and individuals implicated.

In response to the attack, heavily armed police units conducted a raid on a property in Oslo later in the night. The bomb disposal unit was deployed to the scene around midnight and remained on site for over an hour before departing.

Authorities later confirmed that two additional minors were taken into custody following the initial arrest, bringing the total number of detained individuals to three.

A witness said that a vehicle was seen leaving the vicinity of Bislett Stadium, from which two grenades were allegedly thrown. One detonated upon impact, while the second failed to explode and was later dealt with by the police bomb squad.

The individual responsible for throwing the grenades reportedly attempted to flee the scene but was subdued by civilians. Police have not yet confirmed whether this person is among the three currently in custody.

Police helicopters were observed circling over central Oslo for several hours during an extensive operation aimed at identifying and apprehending additional suspects potentially involved in the incident.
