Top Polish military officials resign days before significant elections
Two prominent Polish army commanders tendered their resignations on October 10, just days before a crucial election, in which the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party has emphasized national security as a pivotal issue in their pursuit of an unprecedented third term in office.
As reported by TVP World, these resignations unfold in the midst of escalating tensions between the military high command and the nationalist government. The strained relationship between the two factions has been exacerbated since Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak stated in May that the military had failed to alert him about an incoming missile threat to the country.
The high-ranking military officials who have resigned are Lieutenant General Tomasz Piotrowski, who served as the armed forces operational commander, and General Rajmund Andrzejczak, who held the position of chief of staff.
