Trump advocates trilateral arms control talks with Russia, China

US President Donald Trump advocated for trilateral arms control negotiations involving the United States, Russia and China during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Washington, the White House said in a summary of Xi’s September 23–25 visit.

According to the White House, Trump and Xi also discussed a range of international issues, including the situations involving Russia, North Korea and Iran, Caliber.Az reports.

The two leaders agreed that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons. They also opposed allowing states or organisations to impose tolls on international waterways.

Washington has previously said China should be involved in potential new agreements between the United States and Russia on nuclear arms reductions.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that full-fledged arms control in the 21st century is impossible without China’s participation.
