Trump expresses confidence Ukraine crisis will be resolved “very soon”

US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that the Ukraine crisis will be resolved very soon, speaking at an event in North Carolina.

“We’re working very hard to get Russia, Ukraine. I ended eight wars. And the one that’s the toughest is Russia, Ukraine,” Trump said, adding that he believes the Ukraine crisis is driving up diesel fuel prices. 

“But it’s all going to end very soon,” the American leader stressed.

Trump has repeatedly predicted that the Russia-Ukraine war could be brought to an end soon, although the timeline he has cited has shifted over time.

In July 2026, he said a resolution was “getting closer than people realize” after separate conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

In September, Trump again pressed for a swift end to the conflict during his discussions with Putin, while US-mediated peace efforts remained stalled and Moscow and Kyiv were only considering a possible resumption of talks.
