Trump hails El-Sisi’s “very important role” in Gaza negotiations

Trump praised the Egyptian president for his role in securing a ceasefire in Gaza.

Speaking to reporters, U.S. President Donald Trump commended his Egyptian counterpart, saying that Abdel Fattah el-Sisi had played a “very important role” in the negotiations with Hamas.

According to Al Jazeera, Trump stated: “The United States is with him all the way.”

When asked by journalists about the start of the second phase of the talks, Trump replied during his meeting with el-Sisi: “It’s started, as far as we are concerned. Phase two has started and you know the phases are all a little bit mixed in with each other.”

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump’s aircraft landed at Sharm el-Sheikh Airport, where the Summit on the Gaza ceasefire is set to take place.
