Trump says he held “good call” with Putin
US President Donald Trump has said his July 4 phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin went well and has expressed confidence that both Moscow and Kyiv want to end the war in Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump described the conversation as a good phone call, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
He made it clear that President Putin and Zelenskyy both want the war to end.
“He wants to end it and Ukraine wants to end it, and we're in talks and we'll see if we can get it ended. It's a terrible thing,” Trump added.
Trump noted that the issue would be discussed at the upcoming NATO summit.
According to him, the US is close to getting it done.
“I think we're getting much closer than people realise, and President Putin wants it to end. I will tell you that very strongly and a good call, and President Zelinsky actually wants it to end now. And we're going to be going to NATO and we're gonna be talking about it and we, I think we're gonna get it, I think we're gonna get it ended. It's been a terrible situation,” he claimed.
