Trump says Iran maritime blockade remains until “final deal” is reached

US President Donald Trump has stated that the maritime blockade imposed on Iran by the United States will remain in force until a final peace agreement is reached.

“Both sides, Israel and Iran, are looking to do an immediate CEASEFIRE! Final negotiations on ‘Peace’ are proceeding, subject to ignorance or stupidity getting in its way. The Blockade will remain in place, and in full force and effect, until a ‘Final Deal is reached. Things should move quickly,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

This development reflects ongoing US efforts to apply economic pressure on Iran amid stalled negotiations following the 2026 Iran war.

The US naval blockade of Iranian ports was implemented on April 13, 2026, at 10 a.m. ET by US Central Command forces under President Trump's direction, following the collapse of peace talks in Islamabad. 

It specifically targets maritime traffic to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas along the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, while allowing vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to non-Iranian ports to continue.
