Trump shifts focus to Ukraine, calls for Russia to strike deal
16 June 2026 14:32
US President Donald Trump has said that Iran is now taking a secondary role in his foreign policy agenda, as he shifts his focus toward efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
Trump stated that he held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the G7 summit in France, with a further meeting expected to take place at a later stage, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
He also confirmed that he spoke on June 14 with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as part of ongoing diplomatic engagement on the conflict.
"Russia should make a deal. Russia has lost tremendous amounts of people, and so has Ukraine," Trump said.
