Trump warns of massive US response to any Iranian assassination attempt

U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that the United States is prepared to launch a devastating military response against Iran if Tehran carries out or attempts to carry out an assassination plot against him.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that 1,000 missiles were "locked and loaded" and aimed at Iran, with thousands more ready to follow. He added that orders had already been given and that the U.S. military was prepared to "completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran" for up to a year if such a threat materialised, Caliber.Az reports.

Trump's comments came after he said on July 8 that he could be the target of an Iranian assassination attempt, though he did not provide evidence to support the claim.

Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that Israel has shared new intelligence with the United States suggesting Iran may be planning a fresh attempt to assassinate Trump. According to the report, the intelligence was recently passed to U.S. officials, although details of the alleged threat were not disclosed.
