Turkic states to discuss deepening political, economic, and cultural ties Azerbaijani FM on OTS summit agenda
Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the ongoing development of cooperation within the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS), emphasising its strong foundation in shared language, history, and traditions, as outlined in the Nakhchivan Agreement.
Speaking at the Council of Foreign Ministers meeting, he said that collaboration among member states spans more than 35 areas, including political, economic, and cultural spheres, local media reports.
Bayramov noted that, at a time when trust in international organisations has been undermined, the dynamics of cooperation among OTS member states—built on brotherhood and mutual trust—serve not only as a source of pride but also as a solid basis for optimism about the future.
“Today, we will listen to the proposals of the member states aimed at further strengthening our organisation. On the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, the number of annual OTS summits has been increased to two, providing an opportunity for flexible, in-depth, and comprehensive discussions on cooperation,” the minister said.
Addressing current global and regional security threats, Bayramov stressed the importance of comprehensive political coordination and solidarity among member states. He added that, within the emerging new international security architecture, the OTS has the potential to play an increasingly important role as a symbol of unified action.
“Azerbaijan’s consistent efforts and purposeful actions toward the normalisation process with Armenia, a country with which it has experienced decades of conflict, are also aimed at establishing peace and stability in our region,” Bayramov said, underscoring the broader regional significance of these initiatives.
