Turkish, Azerbaijani scholars spotlight Zangezur Corridor in new book
A new academic book analysing the strategic and economic significance of the Zangezur Corridor has been officially presented at Atatürk University in Erzurum, Türkiye.
The book - edited by Dr. Arzu Tural Dikmen - offers a comprehensive assessment of the corridor’s potential impact on regional connectivity and broader global dynamics, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The book, divided into two parts and featuring 23 chapters, brings together historical, economic, and logistical perspectives on the route that links the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic with western Azerbaijan.
“The Zangezur Corridor will undoubtedly play a key role in unlocking the full potential of the region,” said Dr. Dikmen, underlining the corridor’s strategic importance.
She added that the book was an attempt to fully examine the multifaceted nature of this emerging transportation link.
The project was developed through close cooperation between faculty from the Department of Economics, International Trade, and Logistics at Atatürk University and experts from Nakhchivan State University. Professor of Atatürk University Kerem Karabulut, who also spoke at the event, revealed that the idea for the book emerged during a meeting with colleagues from Nakhchivan early last year.
“Thanks to the active collaboration between scholars from our two brotherly countries, we were able to deliver this valuable contribution to the academic community in just one year,” he said.
Karabulut emphasized that the book stands as a successful example of Turkish-Azerbaijani academic cooperation. He added that the authors unanimously believe the opening of the Zangezur Corridor will bring broad benefits—not only for Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Armenia—but for the entire South Caucasus region.
