Turkish Bayraktar AKINCI drone successfully integrates ballistic missile VIDEO

The Bayraktar AKINCI heavy attack unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has achieved a significant milestone by accurately hitting a target with the IHA-230 supersonic ballistic missile during a test firing.

The Bayraktar AKINCI project, led by the Defense Industry Authority, continues to demonstrate success in integrating new locally produced ammunition and systems into the Bayraktar AKINCI developed by Baykar, Caliber.Az reports citing SavunmaSanayiST.com.

The successful test firings of the IHA-230 missile mark a significant achievement for Türkiye, as it represents the nation's first nationally developed supersonic air-to-surface missile, developed by Roketsan.

During the test, the Bayraktar AKINCI UAV took off from the AKINCI flight training and testing centre in the Çorlu district of Tekirdag and proceeded to Sinop to conduct long-range shooting tests. Utilizing a KKS/ANS UAV missile, the Bayraktar AKINCI UAV accurately struck a distant point over the Black Sea, demonstrating precise targeting capabilities.

Roketsan CEO Murat Ikinci expressed satisfaction with the test results, stating that the UAV is now in mass production and ready for deployment. He emphasized the potential impact of the IHA-230 missile on the battlefield, particularly in targeting air defence systems within the 100-150 km range, with destruction occurring at speeds surpassing the speed of sound.

“Test firing of the UAV has been successfully completed, and it is currently in mass production. We look forward to using them on the battlefield. Especially air defence targets in the 100-150 km range will be destroyed at speeds several times greater than the speed of sound. We gave our UAVs the ability to hit them all very quickly,” Ikinci said.

The successful integration of the İHA-230 missile further enhances the capabilities of the Bayraktar AKINCI UAV, solidifying its role as a formidable asset in Türkiye's defence arsenal. With its advanced targeting and strike capabilities, the UAV is poised to play a significant role in enhancing Türkiye's defence capabilities and strengthening its position in the region.
