Turkish FM visits Syria for high-level talks with al-Sharaa
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, for a series of high-level meetings aimed at advancing bilateral ties and addressing regional security concerns.
As part of his visit, Fidan is scheduled to hold talks with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening cooperation between Türkiye and Syria in the wake of the Assad regime’s collapse and evaluating progress made in various areas of bilateral relations, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The meeting is also expected to assess Türkiye’s national security concerns stemming from northeastern Syria and the cooperation between the two countries in the fight against terrorist organisations, particularly ISIS and the PKK/YPG.
In addition, the talks will likely address the broader regional context.
