Türkiye develops AVAZ - new acoustic weapon PHOTO

26 February 2024 13:24

Turkish companies are actively developing unmanned systems for a wide range of purposes, including work on creating land platforms controlled by AI or an operator.

It was previously reported that the defence company ASELSAN presented an unmanned ground vehicle ASLAN, which indicated one of the functions - a long-range acoustic system, or as it is also called the “sound gun” AVAZ, designed for sound impact on large masses of people.

At the same time, it has not yet been clarified whether this modification will go into large series and at what stage the design work is at, Caliber.Az reports.

The AVAZ sound installation is designed for two tasks: first of all, transmitting sound messages over a long distance in a directed stream; secondly, the suppression of masses of people in a non-lethal way.

Simply put, a person exposed to an acoustic attack becomes deafened to the point of temporary loss of hearing and consciousness. It is noted that the maximum volume of the installation can reach 153 dB, which may not lead to the most favourable consequences for people with poor health.

More detailed tactical and technical characteristics of the drone with a “sound gun” have not yet been published. Most likely, ASLAN will use the command of the Turkish gendarmerie.

It can also be assumed that with the help of the AVAZ installation, it will be possible to smoke out people holed up in shelters without the use of other special means. For example, if a group of armed individuals seizes a certain building and holds it for unknown purposes.
