Türkiye may mediate between Russia, Ukraine following Trump’s inauguration

Türkiye may play a mediating role in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine following the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump.

This is mentioned in an article titled "A Hand of Peace from Russia: A Joint Strategy Will Be Built with Ankara" published on the Turkish Haber Global TV channel’s website, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

According to the article, Russia plans to pursue such mediation.

"Experts believe that Moscow has weakened its influence in Armenia and Central Asia. As a result, Türkiye's expectations in its diplomatic relations with Russia have increased. Experts think that Türkiye will not take steps that challenge Russia but will instead strengthen its role as a mediator between Moscow and the West," the article states. 

Donald Trump won the US presidential election in November 2024. His inauguration will take place on January 20.
