Türkiye sails off all-new unmanned combat boat VIDEO
The all-new armed unmanned boat of the Turkish domestic production – SANCAR has been sailed off as part of the national program to strengthen the maritime security of the country.
The release of the boat took place on June 7, according to Caliber.Az.
Turkish Defence Industry Minister Ismail Demir said the project for the development of an unmanned boat was carried out jointly by specialists from the local Yonca-Onuk defence shipyard and Havelsan Company.
He has outlined the characteristics of the novel military boat, saying the national experience in developing unmanned aerial vehicles is also transferred to the development of unmanned boats.
According to Demir, the SANCAR unmanned combat boat with a displacement of 9 tons measures 12.7 metres in length and is able to speed up to 40 knots per hour. SANCAR is equipped with a 12.7mm STAMP-2 stabilized machine gun system, as well as UMTAS/ L-UMTAS cruise missiles.
