Türkiye launches development of 2,000-kilometre-range ballistic missile VIDEO
Türkiye has officially begun work on a new medium-range ballistic missile capable of reaching targets up to 2,000 kilometres away.
According to a post by Sanayi ve Savunma on its official X account, cited by Caliber.Az, the missile program, now underway, marks a significant step in Türkiye’s defence ambitions, with the planned weapon’s range projected to cover three continents.

Currently, Türkiye’s GEZGİN missile, developed using technologies derived from the country’s SOM and ATMACA missile programs, has a flight range of 1,000 kilometres. The new missile aims to surpass that, doubling the reach.
Designed for versatility, the GEZGİN can be launched from air, land, and sea-based platforms.

Earlier reports highlighted the successful launch of an encapsulated GEZGİN-equivalent missile at Aksaz. The test was conducted using submarine testing infrastructure (DATA) developed and produced by TÜBİTAK SAGE.
While the Turkish Navy is already expected to integrate the missile into its arsenal, the Turkish Air Force is also preparing to adopt it. In an official video showcasing the modernisation of the F-16 fighter jets under the ÖZGÜR project, the air-launched version of GEZGİN was listed among the planned munitions.
