Türkiye says 110 districts located in potential quake zone

As many as 485 active faults that can cause earthquakes of magnitude 5.5 or higher have been confirmed in Türkiye.

This information is reflected in updated maps of active faults published by the Turkish General Directorate of Mineral Exploration and Research (MTA) on its website, Star reports.

According to the map, 110 districts in 45 provinces of Türkiye are located directly on the active fault.

MTA says the provinces of Aksaray, Aydin, Balikesir, Bolu, Burdur, Bursa, Bingol, Denizli, Eskisehir, Erzincan, Erzurum, Hakkari, Hatay, Izmir, Kahramanmaras, Manisa, Mugla, Kocaeli, Konya, Osmaniye, Sakarya and Tokat are on the rift.
