Two dead, multiple injured after explosion in Moscow residential building VIDEO
Two people have died following an explosion and subsequent fire in a multi-storey residential building on General Tyulenev Street in southwest Moscow, Russia.
The incident occurred in an apartment on the ninth floor, according to emergency services, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
"Preliminary reports indicate that two people have died," a source from the emergency services told the agency.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations later confirmed the fatalities, stating that the victims were found on a balcony of the ninth floor. Firefighters managed to rescue one person from the burning building.
The explosion caused a fire that engulfed two apartments and led to a partial structural collapse between the eighth and ninth floors. The apartment where the explosion occurred was completely destroyed.
Evacuation of residents from the affected section of the building is underway.
According to local Telegram channels, at least 18 people have sought medical assistance following the incident. Preliminary information suggests that three of them are in serious condition. Telegram channel SHOT reported that among the injured are at least 10 individuals, including children.
Emergency response teams continue to work at the scene. The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation.
