Death toll rises to three after Russian drone strike on Sumy postal terminal Updated

The death toll from a Russian drone strike on a postal terminal in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy has risen to three, while several others remain injured, Ukrainian authorities and the postal operator Nova Poshta said.

Nova Poshta said the attack struck one of its terminals, killing three drivers employed by partner transport companies, Caliber.Az reports. 

"Three drivers working for our partner transport companies were killed in this attack. No staff at the Nova Poshta terminal were injured," the company said in a statement. It added that several other drivers were wounded but are in stable condition and receiving medical care.

The company also said it would fully compensate customers for the declared value of consignments destroyed in the strike.

Oleg Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, said the bodies of two victims, aged 43 and 53, were recovered at the site of the impact. A third victim, aged 48, was evacuated by police with critical injuries but died on the way to hospital.

Two people were killed and others injured in a Russian drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Sumy, local authorities said.

A Russian jet-powered drone struck civilian infrastructure, damaging warehouses and vehicles, according to Oleg Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Caliber.Az reports.

“There have been hits. Unfortunately, the death of one person has been confirmed; their identity is currently being established,” Hryhorov said.

He later reported that a second person had died in hospital from severe injuries.

Serhii Kryvosheienko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration, said the drone strike hit a post office, triggering a fire.
