UAE leader congratulates Azerbaijani president on signing of Joint Declaration with Armenia
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the signing of the Joint Declaration with Armenia, witnessed by U.S. President Donald Trump, during a phone conversation on August 10.
The leaders hailed the friendly and brotherly ties between Azerbaijan and the UAE, recalling President Aliyev’s recent visit to the Emirates and his meeting with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
They underlined the significance of the Joint Declaration and other documents signed in Washington, describing them as vital steps toward lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. The special role of President Trump in facilitating these agreements was also acknowledged.
Aliyev stressed the importance of his bilateral meeting with Sheikh Mohamed in July, which he said contributed to the progress in Azerbaijan-Armenia negotiations, and expressed gratitude for the UAE leader’s support.
The call also touched on successful energy cooperation, particularly in renewable energy, and mutual investment prospects.
President Aliyev invited Sheikh Mohamed to visit Azerbaijan, an invitation that was warmly accepted.
