Latvia extends night flight ban along borders with Russia, Belarus
Latvian authorities have extended the ban on evening and night flights in airspace along the country’s borders with Russia and Belarus for another week.
According to a source at the Latvian air traffic control service, the restrictions, which were initially due to expire at the end of Sunday, December 7, will now remain in force until the end of December 14, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Flights at altitudes up to 6,000 metres are prohibited during this period.
The measures, first introduced in September, are being continuously renewed. Under the current rules, flights along the borders with Russia and Belarus are banned from 17:00 to 05:00 GMT (21:00 to 09:00 Baku time).
The air traffic control service has informed all airspace users of the restrictions and their extension. A similar ban has also been extended along Latvia’s borders with Estonia and Lithuania.
Military-authorised flights remain exempt from the restrictions.
