UK foreign secretary: International community fails Sudan people
The international community has failed to address the situation in Sudan, UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper stated.
Speaking at a conference in Berlin focused on the country’s conflict, she noted that participants at the meeting are discussing how to increase pressure on the parties involved and halt the ongoing violence, Reuters reports.
“Countries from across the world are coming together here in Berlin to discuss the way, frankly, the international community has failed the people of Sudan,” she added.
Cooper stressed the need for coordinated action, including halting arms supplies to the conflict zone and increasing humanitarian support.
She also called for an urgent ceasefire, noting that it is a key condition for stabilising the situation in the country.
