UK includes Azerbaijani ferry in world's TOP-50 ships ranking PHOTO
Ro-Pax-type ship-ferry "Azerbaijan", owned by the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), has been awarded a high international rating.
The British Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) has published a list and descriptions of the best ships of 2021 (Significant Ships of 2021), Caliber.Az quotes ASCO Spokesman, Mehman Mehdiyev, as saying.
Among the 50 ships of various purposes, types and sizes (from sea cruise liners and ferries to supertankers, container carriers and car carriers) selected by the world's oldest shipbuilding community, the ferry "Azerbaijan" is also included.
The unique vessel with a crew of 25 people, built at the Baku Shipyard, has a length of 154.5 metres, a width of 17.7 m and a height of 7.5 m. At the moment, in terms of its carrying capacity, the vessel outstrips all other ferries floating in the Caspian Sea. The ferry can carry 100 passengers, 56 tanks or 50 freight cars/TIR trucks.
The ferry "Azerbaijan", put into operation on March 1, 2021, makes a significant contribution to the expanding volumes of transit cargo transportation through the Caspian Sea along the East-West transport corridor.
