UK reinstates sanctions on over 120 Iranian individuals and entities
The United Kingdom has reinstated sanctions against more than 120 Iranian individuals and legal entities that were previously subject to UN Security Council restrictions prior to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
According to Caliber.Az, the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation, part of the UK Treasury, announced the update.
The statement noted, “On October 1, 2025, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office updated the UK sanctions list on the government website. Under the UN snapback mechanism on Iran, 121 individuals were added to the consolidated list. Of these, 78 were already included on the UK list before today, and amendments were made to indicate that they now fall under additional UN sanctions.”
Among those newly added are 23 individuals and 20 legal entities, including Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation. The updated list also includes “dead souls,” such as General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who was killed in 2020. Soleimani had previously been sanctioned by the UN Security Council in 2007.
Individuals included on the UK sanctions list are barred from entering the country, and any accounts they hold in UK banks will be frozen if discovered.
