UK to deploy four additional Typhoon fighter jets to Qatar

The United Kingdom is deploying four additional Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets to Qatar, Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced.

Speaking at a news conference at 10 Downing Street, Starmer said the move is part of the government’s response to requests from allies in the Gulf for “further help.”

He said the deployment is intended “to strengthen our defensive operations in Qatar and across the region.”

The prime minister also noted that the UK had already deployed Royal Air Force No. 12 Squadron to Qatar earlier this year.

According to Starmer, the squadron was initially sent to the country in January at the invitation of the Qatari government.
