Ukraine considers new route for grain deal
Ukraine is considering the possibility of transporting food under the grain deal through the territorial waters of Romania and Bulgaria, Ukrainian Ambassador to Türkiye Vasyl Bodnar said.
It should be noted that by its withdrawal from the "grain deal," Russia withdrew guarantees of safety of navigation, RBC-Ukraine reports.
Bodnar said that perhaps the Russians will not resort to carrying out all the threats they are talking about. However, the threat remains and this affects shippers, insurance, etc.
At the same time, the ambassador said that Ukraine has set up an appropriate fund to guarantee these risks, but there are certain conditions.
"We also have opportunities to attract ships and companies. From our point of view, it can be realised even without using this route, which has already been agreed upon, but through the territorial waters of Romania and Bulgaria. This is also a possible option to minimise risks," he said.
At the same time, Bodnar emphasised that the international community should be responsible.
“This is necessary to help Ukraine realise such a scenario on the one hand, and on the other hand to put pressure on Russia to prevent possible attacks,” he added.
