Ukraine developing unique kamikaze UAV for army
Ukraine is working to develop its own unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for its armed forces to be used effectively in their fight against Russian troops.
The country's defence industry agency, Ukroboronprom's project manager Oleg Boldyrev made the statement, adding that the country's armed forces will soon get a new drone, UNIAN reports.
According to Boldyrev, the war is moving towards a battle of robotic unmanned systems.
He pointed out that the new Ukrainian-made drone is already being tested and is similar to Iranian UAVs, but has special features.
"It is already there. I would call it 'patient zero'. The machine is flying. Speaking of an attack drone, the kamikaze variant is implied. But we Ukrainians are very greedy people. We will have 'kamikaze' with the possibility of return", Boldyrev said in an interview with Real Time.
Revealing some characteristics of the new drone, he noted that Ukrainian drones will be able to attack targets several times, with a range of 1,000 kilometres and a warhead weight of 75 kilograms.
Ukroboronprom's project manager also said that some parts of the novelty are foreign-produced
Boldyrev assured that Ukrainian developers dealt with the software, communication means, assembly and maintenance of the drones.
