Ukraine downs over 100 Russian drones in massive overnight attack
Ukrainian air defence forces destroyed or neutralized more than 100 Russian drones during a large-scale overnight attack on January 27, the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced.
Russia launched a total of 165 strike unmanned aerial vehicles of various types, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other models. Approximately 100 of the drones involved in the assault were Shahed systems.
Preliminary assessments as of the morning of January 27 indicate that Ukrainian air defence units successfully shot down or electronically suppressed 135 Russian UAVs across the northern, southern, central, and eastern regions of the country.
Despite the high interception rate, impacts by 24 strike drones were recorded at 14 locations. In addition, debris from intercepted drones fell at nine separate sites, authorities reported.
