Ukraine extends import ban on Russian goods until 2025
Ukraine has announced an extension of its embargo on imports of products from Russia, now lasting until the end of 2025.
Oleksiy Goncharenko, a Ukrainian parliament member, confirmed the decision, stating that the Cabinet of Ministers had extended the ban on Russian goods until December 31, 2025, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
This move follows an earlier decision in December 2023, when the government opted to prolong the import restrictions until the close of 2024. The ongoing embargo is part of Ukraine's broader strategy to reduce economic reliance on Russia amid ongoing tensions between the two nations.
Thus, the decree banning the import of goods was issued on December 30, 2015 and has been repeatedly extended since then.
Among the prohibited items are, in particular, meat, fish, coffee, tea, chocolate and other confectionery products, baby food, pet food, alcohol, and cigarettes.
The ban also applies to a range of industrial goods, vehicles, fertilizers, and agricultural products.
