Ukraine: Hostilities may continue in 2023
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Valerii Zaluzhnyi and former Commander of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, First Deputy Head of Ukrainian Parliament's Committee on National Security and Defence Mykhailo Zabrodskyi do not rule out that hostilities in Ukraine will continue next year.
“The duration of the war is already measured in months. And there is every reason to believe that this temporary account will cross the calendar boundaries of 2022,” Gazeta.ru reports with reference to Zaluzhnyi and Zabrodskyi.
They also believe that the only way for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to fundamentally change the situation is if during 2023 they can launch “several consecutive, and ideally, simultaneous counterattacks.”
Zaluzhnyi and Zabrodskyi also note the importance of further assistance from the West.
“In 2023, significant military-technical assistance from partner countries should remain the material basis of Ukrainian resistance,” the article emphasizes.
