Ukraine may strike Russian territory using German weapons, FM says
In a recent statement, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock indicated that Ukraine may eventually be able to strike deep into Russian territory using German weapons, citing self-defence as a primary justification.
Baerbock refrained from specifying the range at which Ukraine could conduct such strikes, expressing concerns that Russian military forces could exploit this information, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
She emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) are not obligated to respond only when their territory is under direct attack.
"The right of Ukraine to self-defence does not mean that a missile must first cross the border before it is allowed to protect itself. Even the best air defence cannot always prevent this," Baerbock stated.
She underscored the necessity for "preventive measures," raising questions about the extent to which these actions could escalate.
