Ukraine prepares fresh round of talks with Trump's envoys
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced preparations for new rounds of talks with representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump.
He made the statement in an address published on his official social media accounts, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Telegram channel.
Zelenskyy expects that the meetings will take place after the American team returns from Moscow and holds consultations in Washington.
The president said that Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, his deputy Andriy Hnatov, and other members of the negotiating team will continue their dialogue with the U.S. president’s envoys.
Updated information on the format of the contacts — whether they will be held in person or by phone — is expected in the coming days. The president stressed that all international partners remain in constant communication with one another and with Kyiv.
Zelenskyy described the recent discussions in Geneva and Florida as “productive,” saying Ukraine’s position had been heard and taken into account. He is confident that this approach would continue, noting that “a just peace is possible only if Ukraine’s interests are respected.”
The president emphasised that the international community now sees a real opportunity to move toward ending the war. Diplomatic efforts, he said, must be combined with increased pressure on Russia — only such a combination, “constructive diplomacy plus pressure on the aggressor,” can lead to a lasting peace.
