Ukraine receives 1,000 bodies in latest soldier exchange with Russia

As part of the latest exchange of deceased soldiers, Ukraine has received 1,000 bodies, while Russia received 26. 

The exchange was carried out in line with agreements reached between the two sides, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.

Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the location or the process of the exchange.

Direct peace talks between Russia and Ukraine were first hosted by Türkiye in May 2025, marking the first such negotiations since the war began. Subsequent meetings took place in June and July of the year, during which both sides agreed on the exchange of prisoners of war and the return of fallen soldiers’ bodies.
