Ukraine repels large Russian drone attack involving nearly 300 UAVs Photo
Ukraine’s military said Russia launched a large-scale overnight drone assault involving 294 unmanned aerial vehicles, with most of the incoming drones intercepted or neutralised.
According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the attack on the night of May 16 included “Shahed,” “Gerbera,” and “Italmas” strike UAVs, along with “Parodia” decoy drones, Caliber.Az reports.

Air defence operations were carried out by the Ukrainian Air Force, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups, officials said.
As of 09:00 local time, Ukrainian forces reported that 269 drones had been shot down or otherwise neutralised across the north, south, central, and eastern regions of the country.
Despite the interceptions, 20 strike UAVs reportedly hit 15 locations, while debris from downed drones was found at nine additional sites.
“The attack is ongoing; there are several enemy UAVs in the airspace. Observe safety rules!” the military statement added.
Authorities have not yet released information on casualties or the extent of damage from the strikes.
