Ukraine’s senior security official unveils whether Ukraine has plan B if US cuts aid
The Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, Oleksiy Danilov, has told the Voice of America what Ukraine will do under conditions of reduced military aid from the United States.
He expressed confidence that Ukraine would receive a package of necessary military assistance from the US, as it is a matter of "responsibility and understanding of many processes taking place in the world", Caliber.Az reports. In particular, he believes that US lawmakers will return to vote on the issue in January.
"In terms of the political process taking place in the US, it's just democracy. Some norms and rules must be respected," he said.
Danylov was asked whether Ukraine had a plan B in case it did not receive an aid package from the United States. In particular, journalists were interested in the country's production of its weapons - ammunition, shells and drones.
"As for the work of our defence industry complex, both public and private, since the beginning of the war this complex began to work for the defence capability of our nation. We have achievements to show, we are not lagging behind. The means we produce to beat the enemy surprise the world," Danilov said.
He also pointed out that there is now a process underway to create joint ventures with partners in the defence sector.
"There are processes of arms production with our partners in one or two countries. There are already several of them, where they are producing what's needed to win on the front line," he stressed.
Danilov said he was referring to various specialists from these countries, especially designers.
"We have a test not in a near-battle situation, but directly in a battle situation. And our military clearly and quickly assesses how to defeat this or that means. And we have a high level of expertise in these areas," Danilov noted.
