Ukraine says it intercepted 131 targets in overnight Russian attack

Russian forces launched a large-scale overnight attack on Ukraine using ballistic and cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles and 157 attack drones, Ukraine’s Air Force said on September 17, as quoted by ASTRA.

The attack included Oniks anti-ship missiles; Iskander-M, S-400 and KN-23 ballistic missiles; four sea-launched Kalibr cruise missiles; 10 Banderyl/Dan-T missiles; and 157 Shahed-type attack drones, most of them jet-powered, along with Parodiya decoy drones.

The main directions of the attack were Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions.

According to preliminary data from Ukraine’s Air Force, air defence forces shot down or suppressed 131 targets, including seven Banderyl/Dan-T missiles and 124 unmanned aerial vehicles.

The Air Force said missile and attack-drone strikes were recorded at 36 locations, while debris from intercepted targets fell at five locations.
