Ukraine says it losses contact with compatriots in Türkiye after quake
Ukraine Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko has reported about lack of information about Ukrainian citizens who died in an earthquake in Türkiye on February 6.
He said the Ministry received 24 appeals about lack of communication with Ukrainians living in the quake-hit zone, and promptly informed the Turkish side to clarify the whereabouts of the Ukrainian nationals, RBC-Ukraine informs.
According to the spokesman, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has taken personal control over the issue of providing aid to Ukrainians affected by the earthquake.
The Ukrainian embassy has set up an operational headquarters. The capacity of the general consulate in Istanbul and the consulate in Antalya is also involved. Diplomats are cooperating with the Turkish rescue services. In the meantime, search and rescue efforts continue.
The speaker said that after receiving updated information, diplomats would immediately inform relatives. No information about Ukrainians among the earthquake victims has been received yet.
