Ukraine says it needs $5 billion in monthly aid
Economic Advisor to the Ukrainian president Alexander Rodnyansky has said that Ukraine needs $4-5 billion in budgetary assistance per month.
“We think that Germany can give about $500 million in 2023. From the EU [European Union] as a whole, we expect about $2 billion monthly,” Kommersant quotes Rodnyansky as saying on October 24.
He noted that "the state must function, pensions must be paid".
The presidential adviser expressed hope for emergency assistance to Ukraine in the supply of mobile generators and power plants.
Berlin will host a conference on the restoration of Ukraine on October 25. Before the event, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen published an article on the need to develop a "Marshall Plan" for Ukraine. They noted that the World Bank estimates the damage to the country from the fighting at 350 billion euros and that no one can cope with such costs by themselves.
